I Resolve To . . . Show Gratitude By Engaging In Pre-Meditated Acts of Kindness
This coming New Year's Eve, instead of creating a long laundry list of things you feel you should change about yourself, why not do something bold . . . something different, something wonderful? I challenge you to resolve to take action every single day: Perform at least one selfless, generous act everyday in 2009. Each one of us is blessed. We have so many things for which we can be grateful in our lives. Rather than dwelling 'only' on what we don't have, or our troubles, why not focus on 'what we do have'? Why not view the glass as half full rather than half empty?
My 2008 resolution has been to 'Show Gratitude' for my blessings by 'Giving Back' - engaging in PreMeditated Acts Of Kindness. The point behind PreMeditated Acts Of Kindness is to give more conscious thought to my actions, the way that I treat others - and the way that I treat 'myself'. I am urging folks to join me and do the same - to work at being kind because it's the right thing to do, without worrying about receiving anything in return, be it kind gesture or word, though my experience is that kindness shown is usually returned in kind.
In 2008, I showed my gratitude for all that I have and all that I am by 'giving back in four areas of my life: 1) Walk 60 miles for the Washinton, DC Breast Cancer 3-Day and raise $3,000. 2) Volunteer at a Virginia horse rescue farm. 3) Learn more about how to combat Global Warming and take acation. 4) Engage in Pre-Meditated Acts Of Kindness. I'm happy to say I'm 75% of the way to achieving my goals - and I'm making a pledge and promise to make 'Giving Back' a Lifetime Resolution.
Please join me! You don't have to wait until January 1 to make a resolution. Resolve today to be kind, do good, lend a hand by volunteering, or giving to your favorite charitable organization(s). Choose activities about which you have great interest, passion and desire. That way you will succeed each and every day. Join me in building a community of Resolutionistas . . . Folks who make resolutions, keep resolutions, enjoy the journey, and do good! Let's 'Go For It' Together in 2009!
